I have female that will lay eggs between 16th and 20th of this month. I am still not sure will I use incubator or mommy will do her job. She is just over 3
years old now and she was around 900 grams when I paired her. She didn't eat for more then 2 months now and I am not sure if 2 more months without eating
will do her harm. If I decide to let her do her job what should be temp inside nesting box? Thanx all, Toma

Hi Toma- I wish I could help but I use an incubator, I feel it's easier for the females since they don't drink during maternal incubation. Danny Brotto
posted some really interesting data on nest box temp. during maternal incubation after putting a data logger in with the eggs. I looked for the post but no

External to the nest box temperature is probably good to be in the mid 80Fs by day and upper 70Fs at night. Keep the area external to the nest site very damp and leave the inside nest area dry always. The day vs. night variant of external temperature is natural, giving a cycle of wet by day and slightly dryer by night. The lower temperature pulls some water vapor from the air at night as cooler air can't hold as much vapor as warmer air. This natural arrangement works well as it helps reduce the chances of eggs remaining wet for extended amounts of time. |

I have had good luck with a consistent 82-83 degrees. I stick the thermostat probe in the nest box. In the cage, heat pads under water bowls jack up the
humidity.
I like low 80s because the female will make up the difference. This gives her some room to self regulate without getting her stressed. I'm sure Morelia Viridis's method works too. Jon |

Provide a temperature of around 84-86 F. OUTSIDE the box. Let the female regulate the egg temps and temps INSIDE the box.
