I've waited four years to put up a post like this. This morning I woke up to my first clutch of baby chondros. It looks like there's a nice mix of
reds, maroons and yellows. Even some blazes! Man, I'm so excited to see them come out of the eggs. Yesterday was day 49 and mom really started loosening
her coils. I contemplated going in and pipping yesterday but figured I'd give them one more day. This morning around 5:30, one baby had fully emerged and
was lying dead just inside the nest box. I decided right then and there to pull the female. When I did, I saw two heads popping out. I started pipping the
rest, put them in a hatch tub in an incubator and went off to work. I just came home from lunch and saw all these guys emerging. I pipped a few more eggs. It
looks like there still might be two that I'm not able to get to because they're at the bottom of the pile. I'll mess around with it a little more
this evening. i'm so excited I forgot to get a count! It looks like there are 14 or so. Thanks for looking everyone. Man, what a rush!
