Just wondering what most other people are getting, the more I see and hear the less I think 40 days is even close to normal.
How many days do you average from Ovulation till the eggs are laid? (Total Votes: 12) - Closed42 or less (3 / 25%) 42-45 days (7 / 58.3%) 46-50 days (0 / 0%) 51-55 days (0 / 0%) 55+ days (2 / 16.7%) |

My female swelled Jan 1st (follicle development)
Ovulated on side #1 on Jan 8th Ovulated on side #2 on Jan 12 (Both ovulations were about the same size, but much bigger then the follicle development.) She did not shed, but based on when she went opaque she should have shed on Feb. 31st Laid on March 18th Based on that it was: 78 days from folicle development 71 days from #1 ovulation 67 days from #2 ovulation I always went off 45-50 days after ovulation to egg was the norm...

I'm not certain, but metabolic conditions relative to temperature could play a roll in the number of days. I've seen 37 to 60 something, but then
again those numbers would relate to how accurate I observed the ovulation.

I've had as low as 36, ... which freaked me out. Had to triple check the records.
In my experience, it's been 36-45 or so ... based on seriously big O's.

In addition to ones ability to acccurately observe ovulation, I definitely think that temperature regimes can play a big role in this. I changed my husbandry
practices this year to include a year round night drop in temperature of about ten degrees. When I restored heat after cycling and breeding, I only brought
night time temps up to the pre-cycling drop level even with my gravid females. My females continued to prefer the cool side of their enclosures with
intermittent basking only taking place the week before egg deposition (so I did was not too worried that the night drop made it too cool for them). I
experienced about an average seven day delay in egg deposition over last year with the longest ovulation to deposition time of 51 days.

IMO, much of the differences in time frame could be related to what we are calling "ovulation". It is not always easy to pinpoint the exact time,
and some females seem to hind it better than others. Personally, I have not seen a "textbook" ovulation in my collection in several years... that is
to say, a specific time or date when the ovulation actually occured.
