We have a brand new EPA approved product that will be officially released in
the next couple of weeks. It is a patented antimicrobial solution that is
applied to any surface that is specifically formulated for use with reptiles
and other animals. Once the product has dried, it is not toxic to any
animal, but will kill any bacteria, mold, mildew, fungus or yeast for a
period of at least 90 days and can last much longer depending on conditions.
Unlike any current product that only works with poisons while being applied,
this treatment will remain effective over the entire period, continuously
eradicating any unwanted microbes. Once dried, it can't be removed, so can
be regularly misted, washed or touched without leaving the treated surface
and will remain effective even underwater. You can also treat towels,
hooks, tongs, cage furniture or any other surface to prevent the cross
contamination or growth of these microbes. It has been approved by the USDA
for direct food contact surfaces, so can be used in food preparation areas
or storage containers. It can be sprayed, wiped on or rolled on a surface
and is available in a 1 qt. Spray bottle. We are the exclusive distributors
and should have additional information on our website in the next few weeks.
This product is a patented, clinically tested, EPA & USDA approved product
(it is safe to apply to cutting boards, counters and other surfaces that
come in direct contact with food). It is totally non-toxic to anything
other than a single cell microbe. Once it dries on a surface it can't be
washed off and will not migrate or leach from the treated surface. It works
by mechanical means, so uses no toxic chemicals and can't ever create any
resistance.
What do you all think? It sounds like it has a lot of potential - I was re-reading a thread on substrate the other day and there was an excellent discussion contained within about how the damp warm conditions in our cages can cause bacteria levels to spiral out-of-control and potentially cause RI's... do you think a product like this would be of benefit to keepers? I think it's a great idea, even if I just buy a bottle to apply it to my snake hooks and tongs. I can see it having a lot of value in a quarantine situation too. Thoughts?
