There were up to 151 people in the chat at a time! The most I've ever seen for reptile chat online for sure. A follow up chat is in the works with a USFG representative so they can be asked about their report that started this insanity. Hopefully it will be held in the next couple of weeks.

I think it is important to realise that with all the misinformation quoted by the USFWS and assnine studies done by the USGS(where'd they come up with that map.With current rate of globial warming the state of Florida will no longer exist in 100 years.)we should all be concerned.The USFWS is guided by a another "competant" Bush appointy, Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne.That should be enough to get your attention. I don't register my guns and I'm damn sure not going to tell them where to find my snakes.Information gathering,once it's "gathered" are they intending to hand it over to the same idiots that presented the last studies.The thing to remember is once this goes by uncontested Fido and friends would logicialy be next.

What I can't seem to understand is the drive for "new" or as yet uncollected data. It's not as if the species in question are newly discovered, and arrived here with no background. This information they are requesting is already well documented and published. What I also don't understand is why these two agencies take it upon themselves to be the experts instead of consulting with numerous biologists that specialize in these non-native species. I'm not usually an alarmist, but I hope this thing gets squelched quickly.
