Since November last year I've been dealing with a sick (wc/ ltc) chondro.
It started out as an RI. Went to the vet, had a culture done and got antibiotics. I treated her everyday for 14 days with 0.1 ml Tribrissen vet. 24% (oral).
She cleared up and I thought everything was good. Except she never started eating. I figured it might be a season thing, as I've had other females slow down on feeding in the winter months as well.
By the end of January it was on once again. I scheduled an appointment with my vet and once again we went with Tribrissen.
She cleared up again in middle of february, but still no appetite what so ever and she's lost about 200 g. in weight since I weighed back in Oktober.
Yet another trip to the vet. Her mouth was in the clear. There was nothing to see or hear what so ever. She defecated while we were at the vet, so he did a fecal, but did'nt find anything. Doc prescibed some Flagyl, which I treated her with once every 2 weeks for a month.
By the start of April, I heard her sneezing/ coughing three times. Once again RI symptoms. Another trip to vet. Once again we had a culture (this time also with a "lung wash?") done and it came back with the same answer as the first time: Stenotrophomonas maltophilia
My vet is uncertain what to do next, as the test results keeps saying the antibiotics we are using are the way to go. Anyone out there with any thoughts, suggestions or pointers?
I have treated RIs with Tribrissen before with succes.
