My Biak male was 5'6" when he shed in December. He's been fasting for a while, but he shed again today and now he is 6'0"! How is this possible? How old do you think he could be based on this info? Thanks.

+1...but out of curiosity, are you measuring the shed skin or the snake itself??

Shed skin is considerably stretched, and is quite a bit longer than the snake it came from.

An adult female I used to own dropped a shed over seven feet long. The snake itself was right around five and a half.

Shed skin length may be diferent if it is fresh and wet and after its drying. Also, a snake himself may stretch it a bit

I'd almost guarantee he did not grow in length from his last shed. As stated, the length of a shed is not an accurate way to measure the length of a snake.

Biaks can get pretty big fast. If your shed is 5 1/2 to 6 feet Your snake might be about 4 1/2 feet or maybe a little more. Size is largely relative to age, food, metabolism, health and genetics but even so age potential could be anything from a few years to 20+ years.

The pictured chondro shed was from one of Rico Walder's PNG descent animals. The actual snake might have been about 5 feet when I took the image of her nearly 7 foot long shed. I'm 5' 11.

This is the same chondro that produced the pictured PNG shed, but after she had grown a little bit more.

Now that I think about it the previous measurement was of a fresh shed and the one yesterday was from a dry shed. Thanks guys for clearing that up for me. Especially thank you Greg for the great info and awesome pictures. I would love to get a chance to work with an offspring from that beautiful specimen?
