When I say I love pothos, I am not kidding. I truly love pothos! The two animal photos are Mr. Blue and Kraken (first komodo born in captivity and signed by TW)
Bioactive cage, there is a chondro in there! Something to note for you doing this, it is important to have proper moisture. I used a flash here to enhance the view of the moisture in the substrate. You can see the very top layer is dry but it gets damp as it gets lower. This is how it should look....
Here is another bioactive cage with a Moken X Scarab animal, note the moisture distribution and the root systems...
This is a mixed heritage animal from Terry Phillip, this guy is unbelievably hungry all the time. Day or night he comes out of the cage for food. The problem is the pothos gives him excellent ambush cover. I learned this when changing the water bowl and noticed the snake was about 4 inches from the side of my face.
Coming out...
Not satisfied with the lack of food so decided to come out of the cage to investigate why.....
Here is a short video of the animal seeing what is outside the cage....
Creeping out of the shadows....
Having them in the naturalistic setups is really cool because you get to really appreciate the adaptations this species has made to really excel in their environment.
On to some other animals...
First up, my new favorite genus, Drymarchon. This is a black tail cribo produced by Gary Kettering. I would love to get a good photo that isn't washed out with a flash but these guys are constantly moving and full of intelligence and energy....
These guys are like cobras without the venom. I love the markings below the eye, like black out paint.
The other thing I have notices about cribos is every time you turn around they grow more. In the short time I have had these they have increased in size noticeably (3 weeks).
Lastly are some pets, Spaghetti and Meatball. These are two diamondback terrapins. I love them because I went to University of Maryland (Paul August, GO TERPS!!!) and Aqila is a big fan because she loves feed them "skrimps" from her hand.
Meatball is on the wood (being lazy) and Spaghetti is in the water being all noodly.
Meatball's closeup...
Hope you enjoyed the photos and captions,
