Well it sure did go over 50..lol..Between the e-mails, phone calls and pm's along with the forwarded pm's I've lost track of what I've typed
where. So if I repeat anything here forgive me.
Had it been me honestly looking for information about the Jade line this is how I would have gone about it..(I wouldn't have started it in the classifed section either.)
"Rob,
I saw your add in the classifed section about your "Jade" line. It sounds like a very interesting line. Could you go into more detail about the history of the animals and what it is about them that you feel makes them different or special. Since I've already started this thread now might be a good time for everyone else to jump in and voice their opinion about what you feel makes for good breeding stock"
That is the third time I've typed how I would asked the question(Well 3 variations of it). All three times I did it in 5 sentences without using words like "claims" and explaining that in no way is it some type of challenge.
Then I could do an easy follow up..what areas I don't cover could be asked about and others could add questions as well. Much more construtive way to reach 4 pages in a thread.
I've been saying for years that chondros are going to reach a tilting point..They can only be inbred for so long and hence many of the problems. I really blame one person for convincing the majority of the chondro community that color and quality are somehow synonymous. I would argue that as a pursuit of colors..all quality was lost. I'd say its very safe that 90% of pairings are done only with the outcome of the color in mind. There will be a huge market again just for green chondros to outcross all these 650 gram adult females that have 3 babies that won't eat..(okay an uncalled for Jab)
One of the reasons I still have females of Jade that are virgins at 9 is because as the market began to lean towards color it made no sense to breed them for just green projects. I use that bloodline to strengthen color projects like I did with the Chloe babies. Again the color the babies changed to as adults as a result of that pairing were just a side effect that was the ultimate goal but not expected to reach in the first generation.
To anyone my reply offended I apologize..To those who support what I'm trying to get across I really appreciate you speaking up. Like the actress for the Progressive Insurance commericials likes to say..DISCOUNT!!!! LOL
If anyone really wants my feedback on any topics let me know..I'll limit my absolutes to rather just this is how I do it and why, and this is the outcome..E-mail me if there is a particular thread you would like me to touch on.
Now I know of one particular lady who is recovering from some heavy duty surgery and is stuck with some extra free time..What do the rest of you have to say? Like I've always said..lets just feel safe that alot of these people are in there home behind a computer and not walking the streets..
Its all in fun people..with so many upset by this thread I think it may take a week to leave it and realize what was gained by it..
Its still a wonderful forum and greatly improved over the early days..It's amazing what Greg will still pay for to tolerate sometimes. I think its wonderful place for those new to the hobby to ask questions and for those new to breeding to build a reputation. Do I agree with most of whats said here about the animals? Nope..But again why I don't frequent here anymore..
I did meet a woman lately who posted here recently and said that after posting a pic of her daughters kingsnake on sand she got scared away by how she was responded to..I have to find that post and those responsible and open a big ole can of whoop ass..
We need to get the late night chat running up again..someone should set a day and time..
