This morning i went to mist my greens and found my female on the ground. I thought she was dead at first, but was quite active when i opened the enclosure, but
was on the ground. Is there any particular reason they do this.

gtp either lay on the ground for the following reasons:
they are about to die there is not enough cover for them to feel safe on their perches they are just being chondros or they are about to lay eggs

I have a female that goes to the ground for a few days after each shed. It was scary at first.

I have a couple that go to ground just cuz...no reason. Some will go to ground for a few days after being handled. Some when they are moved to a new cage.
Chondros do what chondros do....or they are sick....

or too hot, one of my males grounds himself now that the temp. outside is what it should be in the cages.

This seems to be a recurrent topic but it seems to be a fairly natural behavior for chondros, and for a number of reasons. I recall the words of someone who
actually went to the field, in Indonesia, that chondros were easier to spot and find in the ground then up in the trees... In captivity there are a number of
reasons for going and using the substrate, either to cool down a bit when temps are up, to get a boost in humidity, just to explore the area, specially in vivs
(I named mine Grave Digger for her habit of messing around in the substrate, base of the plants and moss... ), etc... On the other hand I must say that she
only goes to the ground when she is active, returning to the higher "ground" soon enough.

Mine has developed some weird traits lately. (S)He will ground themself during the day then return to the purches of a night time it's rather baffling for
me as to why and also when in shed it stays on the branches, but feeding and defecating behaviours are normal so I don't worry to much.

I have an Aru type that does the same thing bomb. It does this periodically for a few weeks then it stops for several weeks then it does it again.It use to
weird me out but not anymore.
