.... which sucks, but it really couldn't have happened on a better day.
The Versace x Big Flava (Flecks/Daddypants) clutch just started pipping. So far, one head is out and another shell is slit. I have been on the edge of my
seat wondering if this clutch was going to make it for over a month now. Some of you may remember that, during the second or third week of incubation, I had a
t-stat malfuction, and my incubator sat at room temp (around 80) for over 48 hours before I realized it. It just goes to show how resilient these things are.
Seeing pips today was also quite a surprise because their original due date (prior to the t-stat malfuction) was 7/4/09.... so how they are hatching 2 days
early is beyond me... I'm not complaining though! Hopefully, all 17 will make it out! Here is a shot of the first pipper... if this is any indication of
what the rest will look like, I have a feeling this clutch is going to be off the hook.
Also, my first ever ball pythons just started pipping today as well!
7/5/09 Edit:
Here are a few pics I snapped today. I thought I had 15 good eggs with 2 questionable, but I actually had 17 good with 2 questionable... one of the
questionable, partially calcified eggs did not produce a baby, but I ended up with 18 alive & perching.
I am accepting names for the waiting list on this clutch. If interested, please email for more info.
