Personally, I would like to see legislation passed. If owners were required to register their animals, they would be held accountable for the whereabouts of
the animal throughout its lifetime... until ownership is transferred. I think the only way to prevent a broad-sweeping piece of legislation is to draft our own
version of responsible legislation, as a community. One we could bring forward as the "experts" in the field of responsible reptile keeping. We
can't stop lawmakers... we have to head them off at the pass. We do have a voice. One piece of our version could be a bill of rights for the prospective
keeper. In that bill of rights, would be stipulations that prohibit the keeping of large snakes if there are children under a certain age in the home, and so
on.
