1. We think, emphasis on the "think", that we will be able to positively sex neonates with a fragment of their initial shed. That means no waiting for the babies to get old enough to probe. It also means no risk "sexing" on snakes of all ages. We have yet to do our double blind studies but we are certainly pointed in the right direction. We hope to have the details worked out in the next few months.
2. Next up are specific genes, such as albinism. This is a little more complicated and at this point we are still collecting journal articles and sequences. Some traits are probably "do-able", others will likely remain a mystery as gene sequences are not yet known. I expect this will take years rather than months.
The idea came about when shopping for high dollar animals with unknown sex. We knew there had to be a better way. Keep your fingers crossed.
