Can't wait to see innovations like this come into the market. Just a matter of time.

Ben awesome article .... I love this stuff, I'm not a huge person who feels as strong as others do about global warming. yes we have a hand in it but there is no way we will kill the planet ....we will destroy OUR ability to live on the planet but mother earth will be here for quite some time . I just think we should efficiently use what we can get from the earth, I'm actullay looking to outfit my house with solar panels. Just the thought of having a minimal electric bill gets me randy!! LOL PS better than the "fricken lazer" story EDIT: PPS hey Ben where my little one you were sending ??

Ben,
That is a great article, I have been waiting for the right time to switch over to a solar array to power my home. Most of what I am waiting for is the right price but I am also just really waiting for the technology to allow me to drop that overhead line from my house. I am really hoping in the next couple years the pressure to advance this side of the technology in increased so what I feel a bunch of us are dreaming of can become a reality. Someday!

gstephens_1@clearviewcatv.net I lost JB's watch!!!!! I have big steel pole envy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was told ,"By the way.........plastic is plastic - I've been in the cancer field for 20+ years now and I've never had a patient get cancer from burning plastic!" I had to ask my self what was this guy thinking!! |

That's a really neat article.
My wife and I considered solar panels for our home several years ago. We ended up feeling much the same way as Greg. A little costly but mostly, the technology wasn't quite there. I know this may offend some but I feel like our country has really not lived up to its potential during my lifetime. I know the ability exists in this country to enhance life on the planet for everyone. It's great to see creative thinking put towards solving some of these drastic issues we're facing. I'm looking forward to this and more technologies like it becoming a reality.

Have any of you guys that live a little farther out looked into windmills at all? Just curious. There is a public school just north of Chicago that is making
the change. We are looking into buying a summer home next year and I would really like to incorporate solar or wind energy into our plans. Great topic. I would
love to hear more.

Great article. Hopefully the next decade will see a green energy and sustainability spike. I agree with you Mike, we have definitely dropped the ball as a
country when it comes to leading the way on sustainability. I read an article a year ago about the number of green energy idea patents (auto and home ideas)
have been bought by Big Oil, its really a shame. It will be interesting to see how the influx of green ideas is proliferated in the future.

Solar energy is great. Wind energy is not great, too much equipment and eyesores to make it worthwhile. THE way to go is geothermal energy. Even George W uses
it in his Texas home.

I'm glad so many of you enjoyed this. I'm not a green "nut" by any stretch, as I seem to share Mike's opinion about what damage we could
cause to our planet. But dependency on foreign oil has got to stop. The short term solution would be US owned petroleum sources, but the long term solution
is alternative energy and better technology. I just thought that storing naturally generated energy (solar) by essentially creating a rechargeable battery
using water was freakin' cool! That's the kind of stuff that makes this country awesome!
Greg, you must have a ton of cages up there to require an additional line. I just added up my wattage in my snakeroom and was surprised to see how little electricity was being used. 14 adult cages and 1 tub bookshelf rack- approx 170KW/mo - which at $.07/KWHr comes to about $12.00/mo. I was expecting 2-3 times that figure. I guess the extra insulation and the Herpstat pro are doing their jobs And by the way Mike, when did you send your payment?
