Is anyone currently using these in their setups? They look pretty slick.

Ok last time I did this on CF it got ugly quick.
But you know I am not to worried about stating good info. Stick with a time tested RHP's like ProProduct, or SSHC. The materials and quality of the above mentioned RHP's have proven not to be problematic and safe for use. And until the Reptile Basics camp can show me R&D studies done by outside persons or the safety of the materials they are encasing the heat eliminate in I would not plug one of these in with in 50 feet of my snakes. Just my opinion. But you can google how safe Styrene, ABS, and FRP plastics are when heated and make up your own mind.

Oh yes...thanks for jogging my memory. I do now remember. That was the birth of your 'plastic is plastic' quote. I have always been a Pro Products fan.
I guess I was surprised when I saw that Jim is now offering them in his setups.

Jim is not really offering them in his set ups as stated in his website.His intention was to do so but he never did. I have had 4 cages built since he posted
that and have not recieved one with an rbi panel yet. I told him I was all up for testing one

Joey, I was thinking about using them because of the price, but when I saw one in person at a Hamburg show I was not impressed, I held it and I started to
think, is it worth taking chance with this thing in one of my cages, it looks more like they threw something together to sell cheaper then ProProducts, after
that I started understanding what Greg is talking about, I couldn't take getting a call that something went wrong and the cause was one of those heat
panels, so for me it's ProProducts all the way.

I agree 100% Buddy stick with what you know is proven. "if it ain`t broke don`t fix it." especially for the $20 difference in price.Even with my 20
pvc cages the total would be 400 bucks not woth the risk.

I can't blame anyone for sticking with the tried and true, but I have heard nothing but good things about these RHP's (mostly from boa people). I plan
on trying a few in the coming months so I will let you know what I think.

Why try something new that has not been on the market to long.I rather spend my money on the proven product than trying something new and putting my money and
aniamls at risk.The RHP's look like there framed in plastic.How can plastic be a good heat deflector.They might heat the cage up,but how pinpoint are
they.Just my 2 cents.

No ,I haven't heard of any problems towards the animals.But,I sure woulden't want to be the first to find out either.Yes,it could be an
improvement.But,would you want to take the risk when there is perfection such as the Pro-Products panels out there.I don't know about you,but I don't
have any aniamls I would be willing to take that chance with.A couple of things I would take into consideration would be is the manufacturer going to be liable
incase anything does go wrong mechanically.Is the wattage on these panels capable of killing your sankes if your thermostat malfuntions.I noticed that some of
these different heat panel manufacturers have only a few sizes and they are watted so high.I always wondered if they took into consideration what would happen
if your thermostat ever crapped out.I know Bob's panels would be no threat if your thermostat goes out if you get the right size wattage for your cage.Of
course, if you put one of too high of wattage you are going to overheat your snakes.That is why it is very important you speak with Bob before you order one so
he can get you sized up properly.Pro Products has many different sizes avaiable and you can taylor it to your needs very easily and safely.

Might want to double check Jim's site. He's recently updated it (within the last week) and it says all complete cages come with RBI's. He states, "If you want Pro-Products heat panels you may order them from Pro-Products and have them drop shipped to me and I will install them for free." |
