Well,
The good news is that she laid them before I left town for California. The bad news is I believe them all to be slugs. They are all very good feeling
eggs, soft like an egg should be. They all seem to be yellow, though, and I candled them without much success. I marked some with possiblilties, but I am
not holding my breath for any of them.
This really sucks because I have really been looking forward to getting some offspring from this particular animal. I set them up anyway. Might as well
since I had the incubator fired up and all. I'll try to candle them again next week and see if I was wrong on any of them.
If they were strong looking eggs, I was contemplating letting her maternally incubate them, but, of course, that didn't happen.
By the way, 31 eggs is pretty hefty even if they are all slugs.

That sucks Bob! Really sorry to hear that. I can definitely see why you were looking forward to some offspring. She's awesome.

I'm quite sure that they are all bad eggs. No matter what you do, you cannot make unfertilized eggs hatch out.
I wasn't asking that question in relation to MY eggs, I was just curious what everyone else had seen hatch out. Jeremy, thanks for the pic, that is kinda what I was looking for. Amazing that such an ugly egg could hatch. I still have one more possibility for a clutch this year, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Bob |

Sorry about the eggs Bob....hang out and see for sure though. Can't hurt although it sucks she put out such an effort to produce so many. At least your
girl is healthy and strong. She can always be bred again next year.

yeah bob i know how much you were looking foward to this females offspring .31 is alot of slugs mabey next time you breed her you'll get 31 good eggs and
that will translate into 31 neonates .better luck next time

Thanks for the kind words from everyone.
Rich, she had shed two weeks earlier, right on schedule. She seemed to get a little hormonal blue that give her green a washed out look. Plus, my bad camera and lighting add to it also. It would be nice to be able to put my finger on the problem, but I probably never will. I'm just going to look forward to trying her again next year. Like the old saying goes, "Don't count your neonates before they hatch" LOL Bob
