Hey everyone,
So I am in the process of upgrading my snake collection. I plan to add a Brazilian Rainbow Boa and either a white lipped python or a dumerils boa. I have done lots of research on both and they both seem relatively easy to keep. If you had to choose which would you go with? and why? Anyone who owns these advice would be appreciated. I the only thing I dont like about the white lips is that they are known to be agressive but I have read that captive bred are supposed to be a lot calmer.

Ray I love my dumerils ,the girl is docile as hell and she is gorgeous.She has pink flowers all down her back. Kieth from earths exotics is the man to talk to if you want one.

Ryan. If you will go to my animals on I herp Boa, 03 is my female Dumeril's, she will be ten years old in Sept. She is as pretty and docile as the day I got her.
I also have Brazilians and I'm very happy with both species. I'm sure you would be happy with either but if your just getting one for now I suggest you get the Dumeril's

pitdragon, im not sure if your talking to me. My name is Ryan. just wondering. I really do like the dumerils and the fact they get kind of big is cool. Anybody out there have white lips?

A brazilian sounds like a good choice, Bryan Hummel produces some of the nicest that I have ever seen. As far as the boa and the white lip go... I wouldn't say that a white lip is easy to keep, they are eating machines but are also very cage dominant and handling them will not be a frequent occurance. It's not really the snake's fault though, nor do I want to stereotype white lips but I can't recall any successful captive breeding of them so you will probably be getting a wild caught that wasn't born in captivity. I vote another chondro.

I am more of a python person myself,so naturally thats the way I lean.Tom Keogan produces CBB whitelips,and I believe has some available now.Whitelips can be cage defensive,but are usually not as bad as their reputation.I have seen quite a few that were very docile with minumal handling.

Yes sorry Ryan. they do get big but not too big and like I said they are very calm. I also love brazilians does anyone know how big they get?

Brazilians are awesome. I love mine. As for the other choice, I like the Dumerils. Of course, there is one opinion here that counts the most...Yours. Either way, good luck in upgrading your collection.

I'm a huge Whitelip fan. I would say go with those. I'm not sure what regulations your state has on WL's. I think some states may have regulations on them. I can't remeber where I heard that though...so it's just hear say.

Having kept both BR's and Dum's....I think Dum's are more fun.

I am leaning towards the Dumerils because I really like their designs and they seem to be very cool snakes. I think I will get a white lip later when it will be easier to afford the black phase. I like the way those look more but they run more money. I have also been more of a python person but I thought it might be cool to have a couple boas. Thanks for all the advice guys.

Joey most of the adult Brazilians I have seen are usually between 5 and 6 feet. My pair are about 5 1/2 feet.
