Went to the Columbia show today and ended up picking up this gorgeous male Sorong type. He weighed in at 627 grams when I got him home and he's sweet as
can be. I just couldn't help myself!! The blue on this guy is too fantastic to believe. He'll be a nice pairing with Tempest when she reaches ideal
weight....I haven't named him yet, but the girls at work told me that the next snake I get, they want to name it. I'm hoping they don't give him
some girlie name!

He is AWESOME! Really sweet animal too. Very mellow. A lot like Tempest. I'm going to try giving him a f/t mouse tonight. I hope he'll take it. The guy
has only fed him live. I don't know what the former owner fed him. I'm really excited about him.

I think so too. What a nice bunch of babies! She better get growing...she's not near 800 grams yet. Maybe by next year.

Meg,
That is a great looking male sorong. His blue really pops out at you. Sorong's are always sweet as can be. I am hoping to pick up a new Sorong at the San Diego Super Show next weekend. Either that or something from Cathy Maynard. I hope that she has some Sorong's that she will be bringing to the show. Really great pick up Meg. We all know that he is now in a great new home. Congrats. |

Great male Sorong! Love the blue on him. I doubt he will take prekilled pray cos I have Biak male that previous owner was feeding only with live rats and now I
have problems with feeding him cos I cant touch rat, I hate them and now I have to use to rats cos of him!!!! This is really problem for me! He wont take
anything .... else but live rats!
I keep fingers crossed for U with feeding this one with prekilled pray! HE is SOOOO NICEEE! |

He took a f/t african rat just fine. I've never had any animal refuse f/t as long as it's very hot when offered-even my w/c stuff and rescues that have
eaten live their entire lives. I also try to dry the rat well to keep them from going .....ewwww....wet fur! The guy who sold him to me was not the original
owner. The guy he got him from may very well have fed f/t. This guy doesn't because he has about 100 pythons ( the larger non-arboreal variety) to feed and
thawing out that many rats and such would take too long. He's never bothered pre killing either. He said if the snake doesn't take it in the first few
minutes, he kills it and throws it in there for them to take at leisure. I'll check on him in a while to see if he swallowed it. He was coiled in the
bottom of the cage but was starting to crawl around now that the sun was going down.

I don't do anything special Bob. I do quarantine for a minimum of 6 months on animals I suspect were w/c or imports and that I have no history on. If I
know who had the animal and how it was kept I'll quarantine for 3. I will probably do a fecal on this snake since the fellow who sold him to me had no
history on him and has not owned him too long. I don't know how long he was in the other person's care or whether he ever got de-parasitized. I might
just dose him with panacur to be sure. He looks healthy though he does has some damaged ventral scales up by the neck. Looks like an old scar. I try to stay
away from imported chondros, but he was too good to pass up. He's obviously an adult though weighing in at 627 grams empty. He ate last night and he still
hasn't perched but was crawling around in the cage last night.
