Locality is an issue that gets rather hot. Most snakes that were imported were named for the ports they came from. Unless you personally go to the area and pick a snake up off the ground, there's no sure way of knowing where it's from. There are certain traits which are now assigned to certain types. Biaks tend to be larger, have rather distinct blocky heads. Sorongs and some of the other mainland types usually have black tails, lots of blue and are generally thought of to be more docile. Aru types have blunt tails and white spots. Maraukes have a solid white stripe. Greg Maxwell's book "the More Complete Chondro" is a good one to start with. He gives the different localities or types, and also shows some of the designer animals being produced. He also talks about everything from husbandry to treating for illness. It's an excellent book and I'd suggest you get it and read it.
