I woke up this morning to this...

13 eggs laid with one going bad early on. The other 12 were a breeze to incubate without any problems. This is day 51 in a straight 30.5-30.6C incubation. I figured I'd see heads tomorrow but they always seem to surprise me a day early. I see four heads poking out and the 8 others are alive and kicking inside their eggs. I am really excited about these little ones!

Update 6/7/08 - They've all hatched...see below!

holy moly as of this moment one of your little guys is going nuts (relatively). just rolled over its own egg shell. pretty intense for some reason. dang it now the most active one is off screen lol. you need to tell me how you got this setup goin (camera and stuff).

There aren't many things that would get me up at 4:30am but I had to check on them. One of the little guys was rolling his egg around even before I put the web came on him. I guess he didn't settle down after I called it a night. His was just getting started. Here's a pic of the web cam set up. It's an el-cheapo camera that just has IR capability. I don't think the picture is as good in IR but it seems less intrusive.

Thank you all for the congrats. Two came out fully and look great. I forget how tiny they are! I'll post more pictures later.

Web cam is back up!

Mike, I don't know if I'll pair him up with Sissy again as I was hoping to see if I could bring out her blues with some Aru or Sorong blood next time around. If those fall through, however, I know Rodney can get the job done!

Beautiful babies Kim. I tried to hook uo to the video and then noticed your last post. Hopefully I'll be able to check it out later. I have to admit I'm a little sad that Sissy and Rodney have "broken up" (do you have plans on trying to get them back together) but big big congratulations anyway!

The original idea of a incubator hatch cam came from Aaron. His idea was awesome! I wanted to use IR so there would be the least amount of disturbance as possible inside the incubator. This is the second time I've used a web cam and I love being able to see what's going on while I'm at work and share it with others.

The last baby came out early this morning (6/7) and all 12 came out looking healthy. The smallest one came out first at 10.2g and the rest of them weighed between 11.7g to 13g. About half of them attempted to bite me during the removal and weighing process so my fingers are crossed that they will be easy feeders. Thanks for looking, everyone!
