Time to go trolling on KS.com with these. The chondro market (particularly for locality types) has taken a MAJOR nosedive in the last year. Peter Jolles' dream of $25 chondros is not too far off. (OK, maybe not $25, but $100 chondros for sure) At that point, not only will you have to deal with the ordeals of keeping and breeding them, you will also have to worry about what kind of care they'll get from any yahoo with $100 to burn.

I would rather use them for kingsnake food when this time comes. It works for Angolans so it would probably work for chondros too.

I was just ranting a bit about the feeding of the animals to a kingsnake, BUT in all honesty I think that might be a better end to an animal than what it could face if it sells for $100. There are always exceptions to the rule, but the more someone invests in something the more likely they are to take care of it well.

You are 100% correct in that the crappy economy is playing into the chondro market (why else would that Cicle x Lemon animal still be available?!)

Thanks Rico. There may be some truth to that but just a year ago in June I had no problems at all selling animals from this same group for $500-$600 each. I know you were also selling some nice Bushmaster Jayas at the same time without a problem. I think people are just starting to think twice about spending their fun-money because so much of it is going into their gas tanks and jacked up food prices. Professor Holland recently reminded me that two years from now I'll think back on the current times as "the good ol' days". I think he might just be trying to depress me into driving up and going out drinking with him, but that doesn't make his econ lesson untrue.

I am currently looking for good chondro recipes. If I'm currently living in the good ol' days I may end up needing to eat my chondros myself. If I get hooked on the taste I'll be watching for that Signal Mt. Fried Chondro restaurant chain to open. I suggest you start out small, perhaps in a food trailer that follows carnivals. You have zoo experience, which is in many ways not unlke being a carny so you will do well.
