She had a great life till the end, and did what she was suppose to by producing 7 healthy thriving babies. Anyhow just thought i would let everyone know
she is no longer with us, and will be missed.

Meg, Shortly after ovulation Rico noticed she had an RI and we decided to put her on Baytril, since its pretty safe for gravid animals. She stayed on baytril for a couple weeks after laying but it was not doing much besides keeping the RI stable. Then Rico and I decided we needed to try something else, but did not feel we could take her off meds long enough to get a clean/clear culture done. We talked and felt that amikacin was the next best bet. It seemed to help clear her RI a bit but then she started to develop fluid build up in one of her eyes. Rico took her to the vet and had they fluid drained and the outlook seemed good at the time, but then the fluid started building again and in both eyes and her head. We did not want to see her suffer anymore and the decision was made to put her down. |

i am so sorry about your loss haight. it hurts to lose an animal. and an animal of that caliber, i can only imagine. but you do have several beautiful neonates
from her to remember her by. keep them all!

That is too bad. She was a beautiful critter. I am sad that I didn't get to see her when I was down there since she was out on loan at the time. Definitely one of my favorite chondros of all time. |
