Healthy as a horse! I know it's not that uncommon, but I think he's awsome.

I really miss these kids, but I guess you gotta grow up sometime. I can't wait until I can keep them again!

He/she has no eyes. It was one of the first in it's clutch to eat. It's weird.

They are all beautiful, and I'm so happy that Murcielago is doing well. I tend to pull for the underdogs. Did you produce him? if so, I'm glad you didn't euthanize

Yea, he's one of mine from this year. I didn't even think about euthanasia with this one. He was one of the largest from his clutch and ate right away. Obviously he will not be bred. He's destined to live out his life fat and happy as a pet/mascot.

How common are birth defects in captivity? Percentages?

An eyeless snake is not necessarily a genetic defect is it?

Generally eye defects are attributed to incubation and not genetics. That being said, I'm still not going to breed this animal. I have no clue about percentages of defects. It would be interesting to know.

I know there are people who specifically breed species (especially turtles) for no eyes, so there must be some genetic potential. Weird looking. I suppose there is a certain amount born in the wild but most likely they are caught early by predators and so we don't find many of them if any.
