Clutch #2 Cyclops x Biak |
Lead | |
|
Well this pair was not really supposed to happen, but it did... I paired them up and they locked up for days on end for a few months and I ended up
separating them to avoid getting eggs while I was gone and ended up selling the male... 4 Months later she ovulated... So because of that I am pretty sure
that is why the clutch was a little weak...

Hey Shilo,
Do you mean that she ate the entire time she was gravid... like as in up until she laid? I have a female now that was bred all winter, is looking enormous, but is still feeding like crazy... I have been wondering is she might be the exception to the stop feeding rule. I have never had a female eat while gravid before....

Hey Marcial
She "went off feed" after she ovulated, more because I did not really offer her food... I offered her food 5 days before she shed and she ate... I was not aware she was going to shed, she had not gone opaque yet... I then (because she ate) offered her food again a week later and she ate, and a week later and she ate, so she ate about 5 days before laying... I had totally wrote her off as being gravid... She was huge, bigger then she should have been for just having a few meals, but I thought it might have just been her getting bigger... She was a nice robust snake prior too breeding... I only feed her jumbo mice for the meals and only one at a time, so considering her size it was a pretty small meal... And just for kicks I offered her food the night she laid eggs (about 8 hours after) and she ate 2 jumbo mice without hesitation... How "far along" is your girl?

Well, she had what would have been a pre-lay shed on 4/22... so she should be laying any day now if she is in fact gravid... however, at this moment, she is
begging for food.

My girl always looked like she was wanting food when I checked in on her... I turned out the lights at 7PM and she was right up by the door like she was
looking for a meal, and by 7AM I had eggs...
It's obviously not common, but it does seem to happen... Didn't Terry Phillips have one eat during as well? I wish you the best of luck... My girl laid on day 21...
