While in Nashiville for a race I had a chance to stop by the Nashville Zoo and see my friend Nicole Atteberry, who gave me an amazing behind the scenes tour.
I highly recommend visiting this zoo, all of their exhibits are great, very naturalistic and well thought out. Their herps are all new world species, and
they have lots of amphibians, which by the way they are having great success with. Enjoy the photos.

This is Nicole with "Galute" a rhino iguana who was collected as an adult in 1967, making him one of the oldest recorded living Cyclura in captivity. He is also quite a ham and loves to be pet and scratched on.

This is the main reason I wanted to go to this zoo. They successfully reproduced this Caiman Lizard, Draceana guianesis, as well as a few others. This guy is so impressive and equally tame as Galute. The colors on this guy were so vivid. This reproduction is only the second recorded in a US institution.
One of their tree hangers!!!!

Nicole has a real touch with Horned Lizards and they have a successful program for these little cuties!! What a poser!!!

Turtle Heads: Mata mata and Giant Musk

Hellbender and Axolotl
Alligator Snapper another personal favorite!

Lots of really cool frogs!
Cacellians...just plain weird but really cool!
Beaded Head easy to see how they got the name.
Thanks for looking!
