We'd been having a bit of a cold snap up here in the PNW, still getting down to the 30s at night, and i'd been leaving my space heater on in the herp room at night to keep the temps up. Well the other morning I stupidly turned it all the way ON, rather then flipping both temp switches OFF. So the room got super hot all day long while I was at work. I've never really had a catastrophe happen in the past when i've done this(very few times), but for some reason this time it got to my female Bokondini. Either that or something else was amiss with her, as she had been previously grounded for a few days. In either event, I found her listless on the floor of her cage, with very little muscle control. I quickly opened the doors of her cage, fanned it out, got the temp down, misted her down with some cool water and moved her into a tub, hoping for the best... But she never recovered, and I found her expired tonight. Needless to say, i'm more then a little pissed off at myself and emotionally crushed. I'm sure most of you know the feeling... She was my second chondro ever, raised from a neonate. I had planned on breeding her this next spring.
I'm just going to go crawl into a hole to die now.
RIP girl, i'll miss you.
