Greg Maxwell cages ??? |
Lead | |
|
Has anyone tried building Greg Maxwell cages following the instructions on his site? Was it hard to built ? Are they good, as far as durability and
performance? In my opinion they look very good ! I'm thinking about building one but i want some input from more experience keepers before getting started.

I have some GM style cages for sale. They are 3 X 2 X 2 with lights, perches, foliage, and pro-products heat panels installed. $200 ea. The only catch is they
are for pickup only.

I have seen Greg's set up in person, he told me at the time that the cages were well over 10 years old that I was looking at.... and they still looked
great. I think if you take the time to build them right they will last a very long time. The only thing I've heard in the last few years is that the
contact paper is hard to get a hold of.

You can find contact paper at any home depot. The adhesive is junk and will not last. I believe 3M changed the adhesive a few years back and the new one does
not adhere well.

I think they are great cages also. My only beef with them is that they are a bit heavy due to the MDF material. I too have one for sale for pickup in the
Chicago area. Light fixture, pro products heat panel, perches: $199.50 (Sorry Brandon, I had to do it! |

It's ok Bryan. Mine are $199.49. lol. Actually if someone were to take all 11 of them, I would let them go for $1500......and I'm located in
southwest Indiana.

Another thing to consider is laminate. I laminated the entire insides of all of my cages. It costs a little more overall, but the quality is so much nicer,
and the cages will resist moisture better. If you use contact paper, and screw in the loops for the perches, you might eventually have problems stemming from
those points. I don't mount my perches from the walls like this so that I don't have any breaks in the waterproofing.
Just an idea. Mike C
