Unfortunately, this took place in the dead heat of the dry season, and our herp list clearly reflected this.
One evening, we did get the pleasure of the first rain in over a month.
Sorry in advance for the large file size(s).

Fantastic photos and I'm sooooo jealous. This will be one place I will visit at some point!! I'm trying to get a hold of Costa Rican Snail Eaters
without success, but if I could just run down there and even see one in it's natural habitat....oh, my dream!

I wish too! I spent hours and hours each night searching every buttress, checking holes and rummaging the leaf litter seeking the snakes.
Oddly enough, two other (snake haters) mistakenly ran into the Bothrops! Other than that, only 2 other snakes =( Definitely a trip to telemanca / osa in the wet season next time around. |

thanks guys!
rob - did you come down this way yet? James/Mikela, its a great place to go no matter what. You might get a little burnt out if you stay in some of the dry forest areas, but LaSelva / Monteverde / Telemanca are great. Osa is the mecca! We went to five different places in a little over a week, happy to give you the itenerary if youd like. |
