Hey, you guys are great. Thanks SO much for all the compliments. It is great that so many of you love this kind of stuff. Photography is a passion of mine and
so is the natural outdoors, so this was like being a kid in a candy store.
I have to say, the trip was incredible. I go to Thailand quite a bit, since my wife is Thai. But, the country is so incredibly beautiful, I try to explore as much as possible. First off, if anyone is planning or would like to plan a trip To Thailand someday, please feel free to call. Between my wife and I, there is a wealth of information here I would be happy to share. I'll try to answer some specific questions and comments here: Sony - thanks man, as you know, I love photography and anytime you want to see more, just ask. Oh, and that was the closest I came to pissing myself with a wild animal encounter since catching a 6 foot Diamondback about 15 years ago with no tools. Gary, Shiloh - the elephant was incredible. Raised the hair on the back of my neck when we saw it. I was in the back of a pickup truck and we were spotlighting. Really cool to see it walking toward us. We had to keep backing up for about a mile before it headed off into the jungle. Rick209 - I used a Nikon D200 digital SLR. Lenses included an 80-200 MM F2.8, 105 MM F2.8 micro, 35-70 F2.8, and for the shots Aaron loved, a 10.5 MM F2.8 Fisheye. I use F2.8 lenses for all my outdoor photography because they are awesome for catching lower light shots and in the jungle, it was really useful. They weigh a lot, however. Some of the shots were also taken from my digital video recorder's photo capability. You can tell those mostly because they are noticably lower quality. Aaron - Thanks bud - yes, I love using that fisheye in different situations. It was great at capturing an abstract view of a magnificent tree that I could never capture with another lens. In terms of food - yeah, funny thought. On the serious side, our guide and his daughter who also works at the park told us there is still poaching that occurs that is hard to stop because the park is not budgeted to employ a lot of park patrols. Sad. James - you absolutely should go someday. Put it on your life's to-do list and make it happen. It would be an experience you would never forget. Daniel - really glad I could help make your day. Yes, I know about crappy days. I also had some teeth pulled yesterday, but feeling better today. Julian - thanks bud - glad you liked them Brian - I think you are right buddy. Good catch. I did some more looking and it does appear that green snake is actually a Green Cat-Eye Snake (boiga cyanea). The poor picture I found in my Thailand snake book does look a lot closer to what I saw. Thanks. Ken - as we spoke on the phone, this may be a trip you gotta come with me on someday. I'm serious! Thanks again to everyone for the great comments. Any other thoughts on some of the species identification? Cheers..................Andrew |

Hey Andrew
Lot of animals you saw there,Papua is way more difficult to spot animals. Except birds of paradise, they make enough noise.. The lizard against the tree is a draco volans , or flying lizard. Great pics OC |
