I was curious how many of you use APA format for writing papers. I am trying to convince our high school to teach APA as well as the useless MLA format for
papers because more and more colleges are using APA now. I wrote with APA in college six years ago but I was also a science major. Any information would be
great.
Thanks, John

High school was all MLA. Once in college, the English professors I had here at Auburn wanted APA. My summer of community college literature was a joke, and
professors were happy if students used any standardized format.
For all other subjects I had to write for, (sciences, mostly), we would be told a professional journal to model our papers after. Usually, we were told to put in the format required if submitting an article to XYZ journal. Manuscript guidelines could be found on the websites for the journals. Jordan |

Hey John,
At WVU, I have had both. In fact, I had one English prof. that didn't even know what APA was, but I think he fried most of his brain cells a long time ago. In upper level classes for technical writings, research papers, etc......it's APA all the way! |

Just graduated in December, and we used APA all the way through college. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, the largest university in the
state. This was in both biology and business courses.

I spent one year at community college and we used MLA. Since I have been at the University of Missouri we have only used APA.

Penn State required APA but that may have been because I was in the behavioral science/ psychology program. Other departments may have taught other styles. I
never made it any farther than 9th grade in high school so can't speak from that experience. All I know is APA. I have no idea what MLA is.

Angelina, I knew you were also in WV, but now I see you're also a fellow Mountaineer. That makes you the only other person I know in WV, and the only other
person I know that is a WVU alum who doesn't think keeping snakes makes you a nut. (this is true, I know no one else)

Hey John.
I am a business major at Pace University in the city and we use both APA and MLA. I like APA better. |

I had to do APA in college when I got my B.S. in Business. I don't recall (arguably because I was high) of we had to use it in High School. That said, I
think it would be very helpful to have h.s. kids learn it.
