Bob,

Your looking older and a lot hairer than me, I Lasered my back, now I fit in with the rest of the humans... Leave the dark side brother... Was the plastic covered furniture red or pink velvet? |

I debated on the Laser....but I then where would all the funny hairy jokes go?
It was red....matched the red and black velvet wallpaper. |

If starting with parents from a "strong " line always produced strong offspring, then parents froma blue, yellow, or melanistic line would
always produce similar offspring.
Simply not true, not even in Genetics 101. Although the offspring of my Jade line male do tend to be robust, large , muscular, etc etc - but not always. I have produced a clutch withn my Jade line male every year for the last three years. I can't sell them here for $300 each. John leckie is hard pressed to sell his too. But you guys pay alot for "designer" chondros that are very unlikely to breed true. I am confused, but glad to have a Jade line male in my collection. David - you are fortunate that rob responded to you, and should not be so arrogant as to "excuse " him for his behavior.

Hey Christopher Feenan-
I excused him for telling me to F Off. As I told Rob, I don't hold a grudge nor are my feathers easily ruffled. Not sure what "behavior" you are referring to that you presume I was excusing him for. And I'm unclear about your use of the word arrogant. And due to the fact that people like to reinterpret what I wrote, when really all you have to do is reread it, I wasn't asking for Rob to specifically address my inquiry. But rather was hoping to hear from those who've worked with his lines. I'm fortunate that Rob responded to me? No. We are all fortunate for Rob having taken the time to help clarify some information about his work. Once again, Christopher, reread my post. This wasn't about me, but rather the community and what it had to gain by better understanding Rob's animals and his work. For those who would like to scapegoat me for having the interest to request the information, have at it. Rob's name is one I've always recognized, but yet knew little about. In the end, it's a bit pathetic to conclude that I was out of line for wanting to understand the validity of the claims/facts that were made. And by all means, help me understand how what I originally posted was argumentative, accusatory, challenging, or impolite. If there are members of the community whose words are gospel and should flat out not be questioned, I didn't get the memo. I did however get the one that stated it's inquisitive and appropriate to request supporting/additional information so long as it's done respectfully. I couldn't imagine Greg Schroeder, Rico Walder, John Holland or a list of other long time breeders becoming defensive at having had a statement they made questioned. And had their statement been questioned in a rude and obnoxious way, I still couldn't envision them responding with anything other than total professionalism. In the end I'm left scratching my head.

Dear David,
Sorry....I feel like you are being very challenging in your posts..... maybe you should read it before you post it?? Just a suggestion... first post under his classified ad... "That's one hell of a lot of marketing claims." calling him out...implying he is lying???? what????? "So this post is a request for information from anybody and everybody who has or is working with animals from Rob's lines (if it is even accurate to say that Rob has developed different lines)." Contradicting and challenging...(in the parenthesis...) "That's not to say there weren't a dozen of them during this time, just that I can't recall a single one. And given the strength of the lines and the claims in the classified ad I'm completely puzzled as to why that is." Are you asking why he didn't brag about his line or just talking about his "claims" again or what??? puzzled again....sheez! "Finally, on a personal level I am currently working with a loaned animal that is from Rob's stock so I have an interest in better understanding the lines he's developed." You are working with a line that you are not familiar with???? Are you actually breeding this animal and why if you aren't familiar with the lines? if you are using the animal in a project, why ??? "I too would like to develop females that can breed yearly and aren't susceptible to depleted calcium levels. I especially want to develop chondros that are blank slates and are capable of producing high blue, high yellow, and melanistic progeny." Are you asking him to give you all his data and info...or just asking him to help you be his competition since you arrogantly quoted his statement? "I'm just puzzled about how it can be determined that these females can produce clutches three years in a row" That is a statement directly implying that Rob is being less than truthful... you seem to be very puzzled....a lot. ask some of the other breeders that have been doing this for 15 years for their data....lets see who puts it all up.

GTP-
You misunderstood me. When I stated, "if it is even accurate to say that Rob has developed different lines" I simply meant I was unsure if it was appropriate to refer to the work he had done as "lines", such as "The Jade Line." For example, I'm not sure there was a line called "The Mojo Line" even though Mojo had been bred. So the parenthesis was an attempt to not assert incorrect information. Get it? Saying that there were a lot of marketing claims was not intended to be saying, "that sounds like a lot of BS." Although I can understand in retrospect how it now comes across like that. So I'll apologize to Rob for that one as well. Sorry Rob. At the time I just meant, "Woh!" And the second part about Rob writing my classified posts was meant to mean that he had a way of really hyping up what he was selling. Although now with the direction everything has gone I can see how that could be viewed as condescending. So for that I also apologize. Sorry Rob. ""That's not to say there weren't a dozen of them during this time, just that I can't recall a single one." There are a lot of people out there who are quick to call other's out. This statement was made purposefully because I did not want to assert as fact that there hadn't been any posts. Simply that I could not recall any. Do you understand? And I wasn't directing that at Rob and therefore wasn't asking him why he wasn't bragging about his claims. Not sure where you read into that where the statement was directed at Rob. GTP - would you pose the same question to somebody who's breeding a bushmaster animal who's background is unknown? Working with animals whose backgrounds are muddy is hardly a new concept. On the other hand trying to get information to clarify things is hardly trivial. Guys and girls, if you've got a personal beef with me and feel compelled to post argumentative and negative stuff, take it up with me in a PM. Apparently I'm an arrogant guy and I need to do some serious self reflecting.

I read David's post... thought it was good stuff. If David can be hoisted up on the cross for anything, it's that he doesn't quite sugar-coat his
posts. He is curt and direct. He wasn't out of line, he was just getting to his point. In order to understand the point, one would have to actually read
the post. Manipulating teenage girls is a bit easier, I would guess.

I think everybody is a bit tense (perhaps is the economy, perhaps the GTP market being low, I don´t know).
Anyway I try to get the good things out of these discussions. I read David´s posts (all of them) the same way I read Robert Worrel´s answer (all of it) in the thread. And if you take out (mis?)interpretations of the wording, we end up with very useful information. And that is good for us all. So, thank you both: David for starting the thread, Robert Worrel for taking the time to answer, providing such valuable information. |

I am a newbie to this forum ( although I have been following it for some time before subscribing ). Therefore I have refrained to comment on discussions
between people who know and respect each other, having been in contact with each other for quite some time.
The "downwards" trend I see in this forum is astonishing. The endless argumentation and pointless agressivity is increasing and will, sadly end up by turning people off. I, for one, see nothing objectionable in the posts of David ( as well as in Romano's ). Both try to instill debate and exchange of opinions. Both address issues that go far beyond the "designer chondros/ their market/ related issues" and, in that sense, open up the discussion on Chondros at large. ( by referring to David and Romano expressly, I am in no way underevaluating other members contributions....) Just my 2 cents Miguel
People, if i had only one more time to groooooove...

I am truly sorry if I "misunderstood you"...there in lies my point... if so many of your innocent questions were "misinterpreted" then
maybe you should learn to rewrite your questions in a manner that doesn't allow this.
I am not the only one who took offense to your manner. I used no foul language or ill wording towards you in my post. All I did was question your statements or questions. Blunt and to the point...correct? Ame
