MVF Post Breeder

Well after nearly burning a hole through my tub and killing my snake, im finally through with this chunk of plastic. I ve concluded that, in my situation, tubs suck standing alone.
So I am looking for new caging option. My GTp is only 7 months old, so what do you think would be a good option? I was thinking of doing an Exo-terra( 18x18X18) glass terraium and using some heat panel( read the Desert Ray's one was really good). DO you guys think ithis is a good idea? Any other ideas?

Those Exos are nice. They make hoods that are specially made for the enclosures too...that way you don't need to "modify" anything...should you decide to sell the Exo later.

Personally, I like the Exo Terras and Repti-racks but there are a lot of good cage manufacturers out there. A member on the forum, Larry Strout (Sp?) makes great pvc cages. I've seen them in person and they function really well and look nice. Try getting ahold of him.

Jim Sharphorn has a longstanding good reputation as building great PVC cages as well. I have 5 total cages from him, in two different models and love them. I bought them locally used from other hobbyists, and am really impressed with them.

My only concern is the fact that hes so small... I cant really find many that are the right size, and hes going to grow out of it soon anyway...

I can second that. I have cages from Jim Sharphorn at PVC cages and they are really nice cages. I have my snakes that are about 8 months to a year in the 20qt. aboreal rack.

Do you guys think a 7 month old chondro would get stressed in an 18" cube( as in the cage would be too big)?

i think it all depends on the animal. i have 2 sibs that one when put in a 24" cube, freaked out and i had to put her back into a 15 qt tub. the other sib, well from day one shes been comfortable and eating like a pig.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate the compliment.

I am not a commercial cage builder though, I started building them for fun and to save money for myself and it seems to be blossoming. I am going to be building a stack for my friend SteveR and am considering building for others.

No problem man...you make a good product and that deserves a little credit. when i'm in the position, I'm probably going to put in for a few 24' cubes in BLK. Keep up the good work :-)

Here is my assortment of Jim S PVC and a couple of Exoterra. PVC are really easy cages, I got HerpStat pro running heat panels.

These are my setup 35 cages.
Bought by IKEA only 300$ dont no if they have buisness in the states also.
For that amount of money you can trow it away after 2 years
This is place where i keep animals for sale

One idea would be to get a cage that you can put a divider in so its not soo big, then just remove the divider later on when he is bigger. PVC cages and Animal Plastics have this feature on many cages. Happy Hunting.
