I know some of you GTP nuts may like these! We originally got 13 eggs from our female IJ X Sorong GTP Carpondro bred to a 25% Diamond Jaguar Carpet...12 fertiles, 1 infertile. During maternal incubation, one egg on the bottom in the very center of the clutch died. We hatched all 11 eggs but one Jagpondro doens't look too healthy and likely will not make it. About damn time someone does this right! Im not sure if it was just me but I was (am) growing sick of people breeding sub par chondros to sub par carpets and
expecting someting wild to come from it.. It felt like the people involved in these hybrids didnt really care about making the best possible morph rather
throwing a couple snakes they had laying around together and throwing a party when they got eggs.
I would still really like to see a high yellow chondro crossed with an oustanding jag.. Come on folks put your high end reptiles were your mouth is! Yasser, great great great work! |

before we are asked "is this a green tree python, or a cross"? well, maybe 88%. small captive gene pool. angolans, 88% . diamonds 88% chondros 88%.
Boeleni, 88%, 12% amythistine. ughhhh.

I have to ask, any one of them looking more like a Jag. That still resembles a Jag sib. I'm curious if the Jag gene can over come or stand out over the
species mixed in there.

Yes, there are definite Jags in this clutch...no doubt. But being that they are mixed, it will be easier to tell with some when they age and the "Jaguarized" ones become more apparent due to the intense color change Jaguars typically go through. But I will say that a few of them are Jags and two of them in particular, are incredible. This clutch has temporiaily sucked the energy out of me. I usually have 30-60 snakes to feed per day and I haven't fed more than 10 meals /10 snakes total since these began hatching on the 12th! I am way too excited! I gotta get my focus back soon or I am gonna be swamped with work to do around here.....not that I don't already. And Joe, If I could get my hands on a freaky GTP male that breeds anything shaped like a snake, it would be at least in the works! Next year I have 2.2 various lineage GTPs that will be more than ready to be thrown to the Jags lol! -Yasser |

Are these bred together because one can't get pure GTPs to breed? That is how the Diamond/Carpet crosses and the Indian python started out. Until it came
time when you didn't know what the hell you were getting. Is it an Indian, a Burm, or a Ceylonese.

These animals are bred together for the same reason locality type GTPs are crossed: to create new and different looking animals to supply the pet
trade. If people are so concerned that they might someday get a mixed blood animal, I suggest they get out of the pet trade and start working in a zoo
that's involved in conservation breeding. If you can't afford the huge pay cut that it takes to do zoo work, then do on your own what zoos have done:
go collect your own founder population to ensure exact locality data, create a studbook, and tediously maintain strict breeding protocols to
ensure the genetic integrity of the breeding program. If you do this, please hire me to be the studbook keeper. I'll happily supply you with a copy of my
AZA studbook school diploma. Will |
