I was excited this past 07 year to believe Dandi might be able to have a nice clutch of eggs being robust and good condition. Unfortunately she had 32 non-viable eggs on 28 January 08 to follow her last year clutch of 30 non-viable eggs which followed an all good clutch. I wanted to share the unfortunate just for the record that not all is perfect. I'm happy she dispensed all of the eggs from her body to allow for a next time. No problem.

Greg- What a bummer. Hopefully Snow Cone will throw a good clutch of eggs for you to make up for it. Out of curiosity, were both "bad" clutches sired
by the same male?

Sorry Greg,
Like everyone else I'm glad she passed them all and that she is in good health. I'm just curious but do you have weights on her prior to each breeding season? Just wondering how she compared weight wise on good clutch vs. bad clutches. Best of luck next time. |

David, I used a proven male that had not been bred in about five years. He absolutally loaded her full of the good stuff after year around night drop in
temperature many nights being in the high 60Fs. I think it may have more to do with follicles being past the point of successful breeding before I introduced
the male, but not sure.
Rico, She was about 1500 or so grams, a bit heavier than when she had a good clutch of fewer eggs. Here was her look in September of 2007. She had gone into a rediculous shade of blue, bluer than her normal blue. Perhaps it was due to initiation of follicles. I withheld the male until around December thinking I needed to wait longer. Maybe a mistake, but only God knows. The PNG girlie has been off food for a while. The next shed should be a pre-egg.
