Im really confused though. I work at a local shop, so all of my supplies are relatively new (i just bought this 40 gallon and the heating pad with it about 5 months ago). The pad was an Exo Terra desert heat pad (one of the large ones) and it was stuck to the bottom of the tank which was on an iron stand and well elevated off of the ground with nothing underneath it. The pads were plugged into a surge protector, so I know it wasn't a weird power surge. Everything looks like the pad just spontaneously caught on fire. Has anybody heard anything about exo terra pads starting fires? I've caught bits and pieces of heat pad horror stories at my shop, but i've never taken it seriously until now. Any input would be appreciated.
