Hellbenders have been mentioned on this forum before and everyone seemed pretty interested in them, so I thought this was a great discussion topic. This
is more of an Ohio issue, I live in West Virginia, but I live on the Ohio river so it's all local, and these mines affect the Ohio Valley that I call home.
I've wanted to actually see a Hellbender since they were brought up on here, and even researched where I could maybe do that in WV, though I never have. But how crazy would it be to reel one in fishing like this guy did. Also, check out the number of jobs lost if they close these mines. The two largest coal producing mines in OH. Of course, Hellbenders are only part of the environmental problems here, but they made a big impact since they think this is the only reproducing population of them in the state. This is a great example of man's impact on nature, and where do you draw the line.
