Thanks for any feedback. He'll also be ready to breed by early 2009'. So if anyone has a female (wink wink) or any suggestions for a future pairing that would be appreciated as well. So far I have no ladies lined up for him.

This guy was sold to me as a Jayapura, but now that he's gone through his color change (and has been green for over 6 months); I'm starting to wonder
if he is indeed a Jaya or possible a Wamena/Something crossed. I'd like to know what you thought about his phenotype. I have no genotype info with him so
I'm going off of what he visibly shows. The pics below show him from hatchling to current colors.
Thanks for any feedback. He'll also be ready to breed by early 2009'. So if anyone has a female (wink wink) or any suggestions for a future pairing that would be appreciated as well. So far I have no ladies lined up for him. What would you Type him as? (Result)

I don't really know anything other than surfing the net for a decade or so and have made assumptions.
Yours looks like a mainland type from anywhere North to Central.
Then here's one I had going a bit light much like yours did.
I had a trio grow through color change. Two of these were red hatchlings, the other yellow. All the same local I believe.

I have a yearling Jaya (bushmaster) that is basically a carbon copy of that one so my vote is for jaya....

Jeff, I voted "Wamena", but the more I look at it and the more I read, I am thinking you got what you paid for. I have seen some very similar younger
Jayapura's. Whatever yours is, it is nice looking.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the comments up to this point. To be honest, the seller that sold this guy to me has always been honest to the best of his
ability. I've purchased four different animals from him in the past. I was leaning towards this guy being a Jaya until all those black scales started
showing around the dorsal triangles. BTW, the pic was taken late last year and they're still there to this day........hopefully they stick.
I'd like to do a locality type pairing which would explain why I'm trying to "type" this guy accurately. When the time comes for him to be paired, I'd like to go that route. Any Suggestions? |
