Jeff,
That is a great idea, best part is it can work. When you remove the top of your exo terra you notice in the coners that there is a way that the plexiglass can
rest on the frame/top of the exo terra. I will try that for my next build. Thanks for the idea.

Could you just take the top off and keep it as is (should you decide to sell them later), and replace it with a plexiglass cutout to fit in place. I was trying
to get around altering the top that actually comes with the cage. Any ideas?

First off I must tell you again that i-herp is the shiz-nit. Anyway these desert ray panels from what I have seen are tough. They have work for me just as my

biggest concern). They are very thin and you dont have to attach them using screws, just some double side tape on the clear parts and they must be used with

Anryn, very nice writeup-thank you!!! I think the exoterra cages have alot more potential than most give them credit for.

I've also seen it done where you just silicon the acrylic in place of the screen top. Also where you use a thin sheet and still put the screen top back on
(this guy used the exoterra lights)

Other than that, no reason you couldn't drill and put a heat panel right above!

Very good way of doing it. The only things I might have done differently myself would be to incorporate an adjustable vent opening in the
plexiglass top and also to make those perch holders a bit smaller. I would probably also not bother with the light seeing as the viv is open on all sides
anyway, or if I did I would locate it centrally rather than over to one side like you've done.
