Thanks for the flexible PVC info. I think that adds a lot of clarity to the issue. Also, this Bolland fellow sounds like an awesome guy! Seems (by your
description) nice, honest and probably gets more Tang than an astronaut.

Hi Will,

I definitely don't mean to rag on you or anyone else! I think the issue here is just simply being aware of the issue and making a switch to a safer
material with future enclsoures (much like the compact flourescent light bulb deal).

I was an still am in the same boat as you in terms of looking for acceptable caging. Right now i've only got a single male, but more on the way, so I want
to look into the future without cutting corners. It has to be...

I'm no doctor or chemist so i'll let you guys deal with the pvc issue... But ascetically the Boaphile cages have to be one of the most unattractive

No offense taken. It's a topic worth discussing. I was looking at the PVC racks because the snakes would be housed within tubs in that rack as opposed to
being housed in the PVC itself. Being that the tubs are polypropylene (a plastic shown to not leach or offgas like other plastics and is made without
chlorine), I felt using them in a rack was an option worth considering. However, the top of the tub would still be the PVC rack and the air circulating around
the tubs would exposed to...

Will, I'm sorry to ruin your thread, but I (and probably just me) think this is a serious issue that needs to get rectified!!

I am by no means a toxicologist or chemist (in fact I hate it), but it doesn't take a wiz to understand that PVC (chlorine) is potentially very
unsafe...especially when its burned!! Then heat it up and spray it with water.... !?!!?!?!!

I would look into Pro-line Cages. They are made from HDPE instead of PVC. I have some large boaphile cages for my carpet pythons, and am not a big fan of the
pvc material used to make them... it is fairly porous and next to impossible to get urates off of it. Of course, if you are getting a rack, that may not be an
issue for you.
