Thanks for the update. I am glad to hear that Shalia was able to pass all of that on her own. That's a good petsitter you've got there. You'd better get her a good souvenir from your trip.

was, as my petsitter informed me this evening, "turts the size of great dane turts!" - which made me laugh for minutes on end, and then be grateful that SHE cleaned up the mess!!! She said Shalia looks like the others now, so I guess that means my hopes for anything other than dung were doused. *sigh* But at least, my girl has GOT to feel better, and what on earth caused such a ... well, build-up is beyond me!! Thanks to all who responded, and this was definitely an interesting deal!!

I say watch and wait!
If it is follicles then she should ovulate and deposit eggs, if it is gas and poo then someone may need a gas mask to clean the cage!

No worries, I record basking spot temps, back ground temps, and cool side temps periodically to keep things in check as my room dynamic shifts through out the year.
I never really worry about what temps they are choosing just the temps available to them.
Just an interesting note to add to this almost hijacked thread <> I have several animals that will bask for days on end with no night drop.

Interesting observation. Now that you mention it, this is only something I have observed over the last year or so. I changed my husbandry protocol this last year to include a year round night time drop to 75F. I went back and checked my records and the two animals that do this are ones that prefer cooler temps. I would definitely say the snake needs to poop. From what I've seen, any snake doesn't ovulate around the vent and it is more of a mid-bodied swelling. You are correct that poop doesn't swell, but like mentioned it can cause gas or even more likely the buildup of urine as this can't be passed and possible kidney stress. What I would suggest is to massage around pinching lightly starting at the vent and moving upward. You are going to feel something like a small rock most...

Poop does not expand, but sometimes its friend gas comes over to play. I have a couple animals that get gassy a couple days after I feed them. It is midbody and looks very much like an ovulation (minus the constant shifting of position). One of them even "burps". First time I heard it I thought it was an RI. Hope yours is just eggs. LOL.

i have a snake who only poops when it sheds which sucks becuase I only feedit 2or3 times and it starves till shed and by the way Kathy your girl is a beauty.
