I sincerely hate that this does seem to be true...especially at my level...no amout of "pedigree" choices, planned pairings etc. would get me close to a long term non-changing specimen unless it was by accident..... maybe one day.........interesting topic though and I look forward to more.......

Naw Joe some stay yellow, I got the group I had in 04 and they weighed between 400 and just over 600 grams at that time.. Last i heard (just over a month ago) they were all still yellow.. Randy

Even when they turn green from what i've seen(which hasnt been much) they still retain a yellow undertone that is very distinct of a canary.
Either way they are beautiful animals but I still hope that they dont all turn green.

Marc, great post. The current magazine edition is a great way to document timeline. Is 7 years old the oldest one we know of?

I've had 100% of mine turn green (or a nice necrotic black color)... and a number of people I've talked to have stated that they all turn green.

I think the genetics here are interesting, and still somewhat of a mystery -- Canaries have been kinda shunned. Probably because they are so...

I had one turn white does that count ?? still had some yellow, well it didn't happen until I put that 8 foot male Coastal in with her but she was white the next day?? Well then there is ol red haired Gary ... Randy

I will bite Aaron. Above is at least one female, the "original female" posed by the April issue of this publication. She is every bit 7 years of age, has produced hatchlings, and is still yellow. As stated many times she changes colors but for the most part she stays bright canary yellow with a few scattered green and white scales. I have had several animals turn green and...
